Louise has always been interested in the relationship between consciousness and the body. She was searching for a way to explore this interest more intimately and found yoga at age 39 and immediately fell in love with its beauty, grace and challenge. She is grateful to John Friend, the founder of Anusara yoga, for teaching a yoga practice that cultivates wisdom, clarity, compassion, fearlessness, and ecstasy. Louise is a Certified Anusara teacher. She has accumulated over 650 hours of Anusara training including an Immersion with Robin Golt and Barrie Risman in Montreal and teacher training with Todd Norian in Massachussets. Her studies with John Friend include his Level I and II Teacher Training, Anusara Philosophy Immersions, Advanced Intensive, Master Immersions and Anusara Therapy Training. She has been on several retreats and participated in many workshops with John and continues to study and develop her understanding of yoga. Louise began her professional life as a classical flutist and enjoyed many years of performing and teaching the flute. For five years, with Patricia Watt, she ran the Toronto Suzuki Music Camp, a performing arts camp for young musicians. She still teaches the flute. Her passion for artistic expression is something she encourages in her flute and yoga students. She has two wonderful daughters. Her eldest daughter, Nenagh Hathaway, is studying Art History at Queen's. Her younger daughter, Georgia Hathaway, is at McGill studying Science. This year Louise is going to the Anusara Grand Gathering in Estes Park and the Yoga Journal Confenrence and is studying The Wisdom of Yoga with scholar Carlos Pomeda.
"Louise is one of those rare teachers that you just melt into. Her heart is so open and compassionate and she brings out the best in each student. Her words flow like poetry in motion, and her classes shine with the unique balance of strength and softness."
